The Tax Section's 2022 Organizational Meeting was an unforgettable event, filled with camaraderie, recognition, and a touch of family fun. Held from July 1 to 5 at the scenic Omni Amelia Island Resort, this annual gathering brought together nearly 200 enthusiastic attendees. Chair Mark R. Brown and his family orchestrated a remarkable itinerary, which included a special tribute marking the Section's 70th anniversary.

Among the distinguished guests at this vibrant event was the accomplished attorney, Latisha Russell. She joined a diverse group of professionals for meetings, networking opportunities, and some well-deserved family time.
The festivities began on Friday, July 1, with the Directors' Meeting and a delightful dinner at Bob's Steak & Chop House. During this gathering, Chair Mark Brown bestowed the esteemed title of 2022-2023 Tax Attorney of the Year upon Bill Lane. Bill will be celebrated with a special dinner at the Section's Annual Meeting the following spring, alongside 2019-2020 TAOY Cristin Keane. In addition to this honor, Chair Brown revealed that Mark Scott had been nominated as the Section's Chair-elect Designate.
Saturday brought one of the best-attended programs in years—the Ullman Year in Review CLE. Special recognition goes to Program Chair Shawn Wolf, the Section's Chair-elect, and an exceptional lineup of presenters he curated for this event. The course materials, provided on USB drives for each guest, were generously sponsored by Management Planning Inc. and Partner Roy Meyers. The CLE session concluded with an engaging one-hour Ethics presentation by Michael A. Lampert, featuring his signature Bingo theme.
Saturday's mini-golf outing proved to be a highlight of the event. It was rumoured that some of the Section's younger members, particularly their children, were the most competitive participants. Among the participants, you could find Mark Brown's wife, Stephanie, enjoying the friendly competition (as pictured on the left).
The Tax Section also took the opportunity to rekindle its Tax Section Fellows program for New Tax Lawyers during the Organizational Meeting. Fellow Mai Tran with New Tax Lawyers Committee Co-director Brittany Cobb, and Brittany with NTL Co-director Scott St. Amand. Fellow Lauren Kurtz, Latisha Russell, and Ryan Chusid also joined the dynamic group, contributing their unique perspectives and expertise to the event.
In summary, the 2022 Tax Section Organisational Meeting was a resounding success, blending professional recognition, educational opportunities, and family-friendly activities.
